“A person shall not sell or issue a gift certificate, a store gift card, or a general use prepaid card that is subject to an expiration date earlier than two years from the date of issuance or sale of the gift certificate, store gift card or general use prepaid card.”
Arkansas statute Ark. Stat. Ann. §4-88-703(a) and (c) states "A person shall not sell or issue a gift certificate, a store gift card, or a general use prepaid card that is subject to an expiration date earlier than two years from the date of issuance or sale of the gift certificate, store gift card or general use prepaid card." In other words, whether consumers purchase a gift card, gift certificate or prepaid card, the expiration date has to be greater than two years. While the Federal CARD has a minimum expiration date of five years, it does not apply to the various types of cards that this law does.
The Arkansas law also defines the disclosure requirement for the expiration date and fees. These disclosures must be at in at least a 10pt typeface on the card or written in the card agreement at time of purchase.
