If you can’t help feel like a kid in a candy shop when you walk into a Victoria’s Secret or PINK store, you probably drop way too much of your paycheck on silky underthings and comfy athleisure clothes.

So when the cashier asks if you’d like to open a Victoria’s Secret Angel Credit Card account, the thought makes you both nervous (too much temptation!) and curious, especially when you hear about all the discounts, freebies, and perks associated with being a cardmember.

While your heart may be screaming Sign me up!, your brain could use a bit more intel before you agree to open up another (or your very first) credit card.

Have no fear!

Today, I’ll be discussing the finer details of the Victoria’s Secret Angel Credit Card so you feel as confident and secure with your decision as you do when you’re wearing their merchandise.

What is the Victoria’s Secret Credit Card?

The Victoria’s Secret credit card — also known as the Angel Credit Card — works like any other credit card except you can only use it to charge purchases made at Victoria’s Secret and PINK stores, online at, and over the phone when ordering from the catalog.

Net Sales of Victoria's Secret Worldwide fro 2011-2016

In exchange for not using your other credit or debit cards, you’ll earn one point for every dollar you spend when you swipe your Angel Card for purchases.

You’ll earn a $10–$15 Angel Reward every time you bank 250 points, which entitles you to $10–$15 off your next purchase.

Everyone who’s approved to open an account will start off with the base level Angel Card.

But you can work your way up the VS totem pole to clock in extra rewards and perks with their tiered membership system.

What’s the Difference Between the Angel, Angel VIP, and Angel Forever Status Tiers?

There are three different membership tiers based on how many points you accumulate within the program year (or consecutive 12-month period from February 1–January 31).

You’ll automatically jump tiers as long as you keep your account in good standing.

To upgrade to the next level, you’ll need to accumulate:

  • Angel: Zero points (base level)
  • Angel VIP: At least 500 points
  • Angel Forever: At least 1,000 points

Each cardholder tier comes with better freebies and benefits (we’ll talk more about each group’s specific perks later in section 8).

You also receive a $10 reward for becoming an Angel VIP and a $15 reward for earning your Angel Forever wings.

Once you reach Angel VIP status, you’ll never get demoted back to Angel level.

Climb to the Angel Forever tier and you’ll maintain this status for the entire year you earned your 1,000 points and the following year.

However, you’ll need to earn and maintain those 1,000 points to keep your crown after that.

Though you’ll never be demoted to Angel, you can drop down to the Angel VIP tier if you fall below this 1,000-point requirement.

Which Customers Benefit Most From Having an Angel Card?

It’s mighty hard to resist the initial discount you’re offered at the register just for applying for a Victoria’s Secret credit card—and if you’re approved, the discounts only continue from there.

Yet unlike a traditional rewards credit card, your Angel Credit Card rewards you with discounts for future purchases, not cash back for the purchases you’ve already made.

If you’re a dedicated Victoria’s Secret fan, you’ll obviously love being rewarded for your loyalty and spending habits.

The more points you rack up, the more gifts, discounts, and special event invites you’ll receive, making it a card well-worth your attention.

Just not that in love with Victoria’s Secret?

You may not find the card as useful since you’re locked in to spending your rewards there all the time.

What Bank Is the Angel Card Issued Through?

The Victoria’s Secret Credit Card is issued and backed by Comenity Bank, which has been offering and managing “more than 125 credit card programs for the top retailers in the U.S.,” according to the  Comenity website.

Which Stores Can I Use My Angel Card At?

You can use your Angel Card to make in-store purchases from Victoria’s Secret and PINK locations.

Online purchases made at also count.

Additionally, you’re also allowed to use your Angel Card at Bath & Body Works stores.

However, you can’t use your VS card for online purchases here and you don’t accumulate any points like you would with Victoria’s Secret/PINK purchases.

Rates and Fees

The Victoria’s Secret credit card does not have an annual fee. This means you’ll never be charged for the benefits and rewards you receive during the year.

But that’s the good news when it comes to rates for this card. Now for the bad…

Beware the Crazy High Interest Rate

Interest rates for standard credit cards average between 15–20%.

The annual percentage rate (APR) for the Victoria’s Secret credit card is a staggering 25.49%.

That’s why it’s crucial to pay your VS card bill—in full—every month.

You have a 25 day grace period to pay your credit card bill before interest starts to accrue so set those calendar reminders on your phone to avoid these high charges.

Credit Limit

Your credit limit, or the maximum amount you can charge on your Victoria’s Secret Angel Card, will depend on several factors specific to your financial history, including your credit score and current income.

During the application process, information from your credit report will be used to determine a credit limit specifically for you. It’s not a one-limit-fits-all kind of thing.

According to user reviews, this limit averages a starting point of $250, but users haven’t had problems asking for an increase in spending power later down the line.

Want to see if you’re pre-approved and check your estimated credit limit without taking a hit on your credit report?

It’s called the Shopping Cart Trick.

Basically, hop on the Victoria’s Secret website and start adding items to your virtual cart as if you were on a shopping spree.

Get cray! Some users say the more you add to your shopping cart, the higher credit limit you’ll be offered.

After you’ve filled up your shopping bag with happiness, start the checkout process and enter your name, address, and phone number exactly as it matches with the other financial documents in your credit report (i.e., bills, credit cards, bank accounts, etc.).

Before you get to the final screen asking for payment, you should receive a pop-up offer for a pre-approval.

Here you’ll be given an estimated credit limit.

See this screen and you have a pretty high chance of qualifying for an Angel Card if you fill out the application for reals.

This pre-approval process uses what’s known as a soft credit check, which means it won’t affect your credit score.

However, you may notice much lower credit limits because this route doesn’t dive deep into your financial records.

To minimize risks, you’ll be approved for less.

Fill out an application and you’ll have what’s known as a hard credit inquiry.

This kind of check can lower your credit score by as much as five points.

On a positive, because it’s so all-encompassing, you’ll have an accurate credit limit instead of a guesstimate.

Applying for the Card

If the perks of an Angel Card sound too good to miss out on, you can apply for a Victoria’s Secret credit card at any VS or PINK store—or totally online—and receive an answer about your approval instantly.

Victoria's Secret Stores in North America from 2012-2016

What’s the Online Application Process Like?

To apply for an Angel Card online, click the pink credit card logo on the right hand side of the navigation bar on the Victoria’s Secret website.

You’ll see a drop down with the choice to Apply Now.

You can also head over to the secure Victoria’s Secret online portal directly at to start the 3-step application.

Choose which type of Angel Card you want to rock: a sleek black Victoria’s Secret Angel Card or a bright PINK Angel Card.

Both cards tout the exact same benefits so there’s no real difference; both work at all VS and PINK stores and for purchases made online at

Next, fill in some basic information about yourself like your name and social security number.

This information should match what you use for your bills and other credit cards so the online algorithms find and sync your identity and obtain your credit history correctly.

You’ll also be asked to submit your annual income amount here, but don’t get freaked out.

Federal law requires all institutions to ask for your income before determining credit limits.

This information will be used to figure out if you’ll be able to cover the minimum payments of the credit they extend to you.

Move on and type in your contact information.

You’ll need a valid street address – not a P.O. box – to qualify for an Angel Card.

After this screen you’ll need to read through the Victoria’s Secret Angel Credit Card terms and conditions and agree to them before your application is whisked away for approval.

What Eligibility Criteria and Credit Qualifications are Required to Apply for an Angel Credit Card?

Applicants looking to score a Victoria’s Secret credit card must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a U.S. social security number
  • Have a valid government-issued photo ID
  • Be a U.S. resident with a valid mailing address

Do you need a minimum credit score?

Credit cards tied to stores are usually much easier to qualify for than traditional credit cards.

Imagine being a loyal customer at a store, applying for a credit card to spend more money at said store, and being rejected!

Retailers don’t want to risk losing a customer clearly interested in what they have to offer so they’re generally a lot more lenient with their requirements.

Victoria’s Secret doesn’t use a minimum credit score to weed out applicants.

Users have reported approvals for their Angel Card with credit scores in the low 500 to 600 range.

You don’t need perfect credit to qualify for a Victoria’s Secret Angel Card and by gaining approval for one and using it responsibly, you’ll actually start to build or repair your credit so it's a true win-win.

Can You Manage Your Account Online?

Sign up for your Angel Account Center at and you’ll have online access 24/7 to your Angel Card account management portal.

Here you’ll be able to:

  • Make your monthly payments
  • View your statements and current/past transactions
  • Check your credit card balance
  • Update your personal information
  • Add authorized buyers
  • Send secure messages to Customer Care if you need help

At the top of the navigation bar, you’ll see a link that says Register for Access.

Fill out your Victoria’s Secret Angel Credit Card account number, zip code, and the last four digits of your social security number to register and activate your Angel Card.

You’ll also need to verify your identity by entering either your:

  • full social security number
  • social insurance number
  • or alternate form of identification

Make sure all this info matches what you used on the application form for your card.

When you’re done, hit the pink Find My Account button.

After your account’s located, create a username and password, add your email address and phone number, and access to your Angel Card dashboard will be granted.

How Long Does it Take to Get Your Victoria’s Secret Credit Card?

When your application’s been given the thumbs up, you’ll receive your Angel Card within 7–10 business days.

If you don’t receive your card within this timeframe, just contact Angel Card Customer Care at 1-800-695-9478 (TDD/TTY: 1-800- 695-1788) and they’ll tell you what’s up.

How Do You Check the Status of Your Victoria’s Secret Credit Card Application?

You may have to wait up to 30 days if additional information is needed to approve your application.

This doesn’t happen often, but when it does you can check on the status of your Angel Card by speaking with a member of the Angel Card Customer Care team at 1-800-695-9478 (TDD/TTY: 1-800- 695-1788).

Just a head’s up: Victoria's Secret Live Chat associates can’t check the status of your Angel Card application online. They also can’t look up when your Angel Card will be arriving in your mailbox. #bummer

Payment Options

You have four options for paying your monthly Angel Credit Card bill:

By Mail:

Send a check or money order made out to Comenity Bank to:

Comenity Bank Customer Care
PO Box 182273
Columbus, OH 43218-2273

In-store at any Victoria’s Secret or PINK location:

  • Bring your card to the register, ask to make a payment, and you’ll be all set.
  • Your account will reflect the payment immediately so it’s a good option when you’re pressed for time.

Online from your Account Center at

  • Login to your Account Center and click to make a payment.
  • Select the exact amount you’re going to pay toward your Angel Card balance (pro tip: it’s always best to pay more than the minimum amount).
  • Enter your banking information—including your personal checking account and routing numbers—and hit to submit your payment.
  • As long as you submit your payment online by 8PM ET it will be credited to your account the same day.

Over the phone with Customer Care (1-800-695-9478):

  • Pay your bill for free using the automated phone system 24/7, 365 days a year.
  • Speak with a live customer service rep (between 8AM and 9PM Monday—Saturday ET) and you’ll be charged a $9 fee.

PS: It could take up to two days for your payment to leave your bank account and transfer to your Angel Card account so make sure you give yourself enough time to avoid being late (and facing a hefty late fee).

What is the Minimum Payment?

Your Angel Card minimum payment is the amount you must pay each billing period to avoid a late fee.

Your minimum payment will never be less than $27.

If you have less than $27 charged on your account, your minimum payment will be your entire statement balance.

You can learn how your minimum payment is calculated according to your credit plan by reading the financial terms of your Victoria’s Secret Angel Card account.

Can I Pay My Victoria’s Secret Credit Card With Paypal?

While you can pay for your purchases with a credit card or PayPal during checkout on the Victoria’s Secret website and in-store, you can’t use either of these forms of payment to pay off your monthly Angel Card bill.

PayPal's Annual Mobile Payment Volume from 2011-2017

What are the Late Payment Repercussions?

We’re all busy, but if you forget to pay your Angel Card bill on time—and you did not have a late fee in the prior six billing periods—you’ll be charged a fee of $27.

Customers have reported being just an hour late with their payment and still being charged this fee regardless of how long they’ve been cardholders so be warned.

Being habitually late will cost you even more. The late fee jumps to $37 if it’s your second late payment (or third, or fourth…) within the last six months. Yikes!

Benefits of the Card

Being an Angel Card holder gives you access to exclusive perks and offers regular shoppers don’t even know exist.

Here are five major reasons to apply for a Victoria’s Secret credit card:

You Receive a Birthday/Anniversary Gift (woo!)

Every year you keep your Angel Card active, you’ll receive a special birthday reward to celebrate.

On the anniversary of signing up for your VS credit card:

  • Angel card and Angel VIP holders will receive a $10 credit
  • Angel Forever members will earn a $15 credit

You can use this credit anytime without limitations or combined offer restrictions. Happy birthday to you!

Forever Angel cardholders will also receive a Thank You gift on their anniversary as Victoria’s way of showing appreciation for their top tier members.

Free Shipping On Bra Purchases

As long as you have one bra in your online order, you’ll be given free standard shipping when you pay with your Angel credit card.

There are a few caveats though:

  • Clearance bras don’t count (those with prices ending in $.99)
  • You must enter offer code: JUST4ANGELS at checkout because your free shipping option won’t trigger automatically. This offer code can be combined with others you’re using.
  • Alaska and Hawaii residents won’t qualify for free shipping, but their total shipping charges will be reduced to just $4.99 so that’s still cool.

Earn Special Rewards Just for Shopping with VS and PINK

The Angel Card is best suited for loyal Victoria’s Secret fans who spend more on their bras than they do on lunch for the week.

#NoShame, that’s exactly what’s so great about having your Victoria’s Secret credit card: you earn points and rewards based on how often you use your card.

As long as your account is in good standing, you’ll earn:

  • Triple points per dollar on all bra purchases (including clearance and discounted bras)
  • One point per dollar on all other merchandise (like clothes, perfume, panties, etc.)

So if you buy one $50 bra, for example, you’ll be raking in 150 points.

Add a few pairs of undies ($40) and a sweet pair of workout leggings ($60) and you’ll bank another 100 points for a grand total of 250 in a single transaction.

Then you’ll reach the magic threshold.

When your account hits 250 points:

  • Angel and Angel VIP cardholders receive a $10 Angel Reward credit
  • Angel Forever cardholders receive a $15 Angel Reward credit

The best news?

There’s no cap to how many points you can earn during a billing cycle or during the year so you have unlimited opportunities to hit the 250-point mark.

So if you earn 500 points during the month, you’ll receive two rewards!

On top of that, VS cardholders can pile on the points during special “triple-points days” where you’ll earn three points for every dollar you spend.

The number of triple-points days you have every year depends on your membership status:

  • Angel: 1 day
  • Angel VIP: 2 days
  • Forever Angel: 3 days

How do these triple-point days work?

Unlike sales and specials that run on the company’s schedule, cardholders are allowed to pick the dates they want to designate as triple-points days after they make their purchase.

Here’s the catch: Your triple points won’t be automatically added to your account unless you call 1-844-3XANGEL (1-844-392-6435) within 90 days after your purchase to specifically call out that shopping transaction as one of your triple-points days.

Additionally, if you pay your Victoria’s Secret credit card bill at any VS or PINK store—and you also make a purchase during that time with your card—you’ll earn double points on merchandise (excluding bras).

You can only earn this perk once a month, for a maximum limit of 1,000 points.

With all these opportunities for earning points, your Angel rewards are sure to stack up.

Once you’ve earned a reward, it will be mailed to your home three to six weeks later.

Then you can apply it towards your next purchase.

Beware: Your Angel Rewards expire after 90 days so you need to use them fairly soon.

Still, when you crunch the numbers, you’ll see that the Angel Card may be better than a cash back reward card if you’re a VS addict.

When you earn $10 per 250 points, you’re actually earning four points for every dollar you spend; Angel Forever members earn six points per dollar they spend because they receive $15 for spending the same amount.

As Leah Norris points out for Credit Donkey, this is no minor perk. “Most rewards cards have reward and/or cash back rates in the neighborhood of 1–2%.”

While you may not get this cashback in the form of a statement credit to help you pay down your Angel credit card bill, if you plan on spending money on your card, the discount is in essence like getting cash back in the future.

To check how many points you’ve earned—and start a countdown till your next reward—just log into your Account Center at

You can also contact Customer Care at 1-800-695-9478 (TDD/TTY: 1-800-695-1788) to ask for this info.

Gain Access to Special Deals and Invitations to Exclusive Events

Angel VIP and Forever Angel cardholders will be notified of special in-store promotions and receive invitations to exclusive events throughout the year.

You’ll also have early access to the Semi-Annual Sale before it’s open to non-cardholders, which means you get first dibs on everything in your size.

Plus, one Hip2Save reader and card-carrying member of the Angel club says you’ll also snag “about 50 coupons per year for FREE panties!”

Who could pass all that up?

No Annual Fee

Unlike other rewards cards that charge a fee every year to offset the costs of dishing out benefits to their customers, the Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card does not charge an annual fee.

Consider your Angel Card a good deal on this front. Annual fees can range from $25 to $500 depending on the credit card.

Though these five perks of having an Angel Card sound amazeballs, there are three big downsides to having one as well.

If you can manage or get past these cons, maybe the good of an Angel Card will outweigh the bad for you.

But you should still know what you’re getting into.

You Can Only Use it at VS and Bath & Body Works Stores

You Angel Card can only be used to make purchases at Victoria’s Secret and PINK stores.

You can also use it to shop online or via the VS catalog.

While you can use your Victoria’s Secret credit card at Bath & Body Works stores, you don’t earn any points for the money you spend there.

Plus, you can’t use your Angel Card on the Bath & Body Works website so you have to schlep those heavy lotions and candles instead of having them shipped to your door.

But those are the only two retailers that accept your Angel Card as payment. You won’t earn rewards for groceries or gas or shopping at other locations as you would with a traditional rewards card.

This card is better for diehard fans of these two retailers than it is for those who only visit these stores once or twice a year.

Americans Who Shopped at Victoria's Secret from 2008-2017

High APR Compared to Other Credit Cards

As we discussed way back in section 3, the annual percentage rate (or APR) for the Victoria’s Secret credit card sits high at 25.49%.

To give you an indication of what that means in terms of other credit cards, consider these averages:

  • APR for all credit card types: 15.63%
  • APR for rewards cards: 15.70%
  • APR when you have bad credit: 23.17%

The Angel Card is almost 10 percentage points higher than a rewards card that’s accepted in more places and earns cash back for statement credits or merchant gifts.

The bigger catch is that the Angel Card’s 25.49% interest rate is higher than what you’d be penalized by if you had bad credit.

So even if you have near-perfect credit, you’ll be paying just as much in interest as someone with credit much worse than yours.

Why does this matter so much?

If you spend enough to earn a bonus reward, you’ll need to pay off that purchase before you start accumulating interest at this crazy high rate.

If you wind up paying more than $10–$15 in interest fees, your reward is basically a wash.

Your Points Expire in 12 Months & Your Angel Rewards are Only Good for 90 Days

You snooze, you lose when it comes to your points and your rewards with the Victoria’s Secret credit card.

Though you have the option to earn an unlimited amount of points during the program year, these points do not rollover to the next year.

So you’ll probably wind up spending more at the end of the year to meet your 250-point threshold, or you’ll risk losing all the points you earned during the previous months.

Additionally, you need to make at least one purchase with your Angel Card during the program year or else your card will become inactive.

When this happens all your accumulated points go right down the drain.

And those Angel Rewards you earn whenever you bump up a tier or reach 250 points?

Those expire if you don’t use them within 90 days of earning them.

As you can probably tell by now, these rewards work a lot more like coupons that expire than actual gifts or rewards.

But hey, if you make frequent purchases or visits to the VS brand stores, this won’t keep you up at night at all.

Customer Reviews

Customers gave the Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card an average of 3.7 stars out of 5 on Credit Karma’s review portal:

The overall customer experience seems to be positive as 5- and 4-star reviews account for 67% of the total reviews; only 28% of the reviews are 1- or 2- star ratings.

And when ranking other factors like Customer Service and the application process, customers seemed more than happy and rated Victoria’s Secret Angel Card with almost perfect scores:

Customers like that you can qualify for an Angel credit card with little or no credit.

When used responsibly, the Victoria’s Secret credit card can help you build or repair your credit and eventually lead to higher credit limits.

As for the negatives, reviewers most commonly complained about the high interest rate and expensive late fees.

Moral of the story?

If you don’t have enough to pay off your balance before you start accruing high-interest charges on your account, don’t charge that much when you’re shopping.

And definitely don’t make your payment late or your wallet (and credit) will suffer.

Try to set alarms on your phone’s calendar to pay your Angel Card bill earlier than the due date so you’re never late.

Pay your bill within your grace period and that gigantic APR won’t mean a thing.

  • Can I upgrade the Angel card?

Your Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card will automatically upgrade depending on how many points you accumulate during a continuous 12-month period (February 1–January 31).

Earn 500 points on your Angel Card during this time and you’ll be upgraded to Angel VIP status. Bank 1,000 points and you’ll be Angel Forever level.

FYI: Your account must be in good standing before you’re eligible for an upgrade.

  • Can I use the card for cashback?

Your Angel Rewards cannot be redeemed for cash, applied to previous purchases, or credited to your statement balance. They can only be used towards a purchase you make at Victoria’s Secret or PINK stores, online at, and over the phone.
