Best Buy Credit Card Review
For many electronics enthusiasts, a Best Buy credit card offers some nice perks and rewards. Before applying, read this to figure out if there's a place for it in your wallet.
Let's face it: the price of staying current with technology doesn't come cheap.
Whether you're constantly upgrading your smartphone, hunting for fresh releases in video games and movies, or maintaining your computers and other gadgets for work, you probably find yourself in a Best Buy store more often than the gym.
And because you're such a loyal customer, you've probably been asked to open a Best Buy credit card about a zillion times, right?
While you may have turned down the offer so you could race home and play with your new purchase, you may change your mind when you hear about all the rewards and exclusive discounts Best Buy credit cardholders enjoy.
So to help you learn all the facts, today we'll be highlighting the best and worst aspects of the Best Buy credit card. You'll have all the intel you need to fill out an application or move on to another rewards card when we're through.
Let's start with the basics before we get to level up to the good stuff (aka rewards!).
How Many Types of Credit Cards Does Best Buy Offer?
Best Buy offers two different types of credit cards; a store credit card and a Visa branded credit card you can use at other retailers.
Each credit card earns you an unlimited 5% back on all Best Buy purchases and gives you access to special zero-interest financing options.
How do you decide which one to go with?
You'll fill out one Best Buy credit card application and then you'll be presented with the options you're approved for.
First, your creditworthiness will determine if you're eligible for the Platinum My Best Buy Visa card. If you're not approved for this card, you'll be considered for the My Best Buy Preferred Visa, the My Best Buy Store Card, and the My Best Buy Gold Visa (in that order).
When you learn your options, it's up to you to choose the one you want.
Let's discuss the differences between these two credit card types.
My Best Buy Credit Card (for all your Best Buy purchases)
Like most retail store credit cards, you can only use your My Best Buy Credit Card for purchases you make at a Best Buy store and online at www.BestBuy.com.
Since you cannot use the My Best Buy Credit Card at other retailers, you can only earn rewards based on your Best Buy purchases.
On the other hand, the My Best Buy Visa earns points almost everywhere.
My Best Buy Visa (for all your Best Buy purchases and wherever Visa is accepted)
Unlike the My Best Buy credit card—which can only be used for purchases you make at Best Buy stores and online at the Best Buy website—the My Best Buy Visa racks up rewards for your purchases wherever Visa cards are accepted.
Formerly known as the Reward Zone MasterCard, you'll not only earn 5% back for all Best Buy purchases, you'll also earn:
- 2% back in rewards for gas, dining out, and grocery shopping
- 1% back in rewards for purchases made everywhere else
There are also limited-time bonus reward categories that constantly change with the seasons so you'll have extra opportunities to grab points.
Is the Best Buy Visa Credit Card the Same as the Best Buy Visa Prepaid Card?
The Best Buy Visa gift card is a prepaid card with a set balance that shrinks and depletes every time you make a purchase with it.
Conversely, the My Best Buy Visa credit card lets you make purchases that accumulate a balance on your credit card. You'll need to pay off your purchases each month (or pay interest to carry your balance to the following month) with your checking or savings account.
Also, prepaid Best Buy Visa gift cards cost $5.95 to activate and the My Best Buy Visa credit card is free to apply for and activate.
Who Will Benefit the Most from Opening a Best Buy Credit Card?
You'll earn points for every dollar you spend on qualifying purchases with your My Best Buy credit cards. Every time you reach 250 points, you'll be sent a $5 Rewards Certificate good for redemption during a future Best Buy purchase.
Since your rewards act more like coupons for your next Best Buy endeavor, this card may not be your cup of tea if you're looking for a rewards card that gives you back airline miles, statement credits, or gifts from other vendors and merchants.
On the flipside, regular Best Buy customers will be thrilled to earn discounts based on the money they drop in store (and elsewhere if you're rocking a My Best Buy Visa card).
What Bank Is the Card Issued Through?
Retailers usually need to team up with a bank or trusted financial institution to issue credit cards to their customers. The My Best Buy credit cards are backed by Citibank, the third largest bank in the United States.
What are the Rates and Annual Fees for the Best Buy Credit Cards?
Credit cards issued by retailers are usually the easiest to qualify for, which is good news if you have little or bad credit.
However, as a result of less stringent credit approval, interest rates are typically higher for store cards than they are for regular credit cards. This helps the banks minimize their risk and recoup money in interest fees as a backup in case the cardholder doesn't pay their debt back.
To get a baseline of interest rates before you learn what the Best Buy credit cards charge, check out the average APR for commonly held credit cards:
- Average credit card: 16%
- Low interest credit card: 13%
- Rewards/Cash back credit card: 16%
- Instant approval credit card: 18%
- Bad credit: 23%
Even though interest rates are the highest they've been in a decade, these averages are still lower than the My Best Buy credit cards' rates.
Not the Friendliest Interest Rates
The My Best Buy credit cards all have a 25.99% variable interest rate.
That means that your interest rate is not only two percentage points higher than credit cards specifically for those with bad credit, it may also get higher depending on how the financial market is doing. Yikes!
If you plan to open a Best Buy credit card, it's important that you pay off your bill each month without carrying a balance. When you wait to pay your bill outside of your 25-day grace period, you'll start to accrue interest and wind up paying way more in total for your purchase.
On the bright side, both Best Buy credit cards offer promotional financing.
If you choose the zero-interest financing option during your transaction, you won't earn any points towards your reward certificate. But then again, you also won't have to pay any interest for a specified promotional period of time either.
Currently the promotional financing rates include:
- No Interest If Paid in Full Within 6 Months on storewide purchases $199 and up
- No Interest If Paid in Full Within 12 Months on storewide purchases $399 and up
- No Interest If Paid in Full Within 18 Months on major appliance purchases totaling $599 and up
- No Interest If Paid in Full Within 24 Months on home theater purchases $799 and up
But if you fail to pay off your purchase entirely within that timeframe, you'll be charged the normal interest rate for the entire purchase amount from the date of your purchase, regardless of how much you've paid off since then.
We'll talk more about this deferred interest plan in section 10.1.
Speaking of charges, there's also a slight hiccup with your annual fee if you don't have picture-perfect credit.
Annual Fee Based on Your Creditworthiness
Applicants with good credit or higher are usually approved for the Platinum Best Buy Visa card.
If you're not approved for this card, your information will determine if you're a better candidate for the My Best Buy Preferred Visa, the My Best Buy Store Card, or the My Best Buy Gold Visa (in that order).
Even though they all come with the same rewards, rates, and fees, the Best Buy Gold Visa will cost you a $59 annual fee.
The Platinum and Preferred Best Buy Visa cards and the Best Buy Store card do not charge annual fees.
What are the Credit Limits on the Best Buy Credit Cards?
Don't be surprised if you're only approved for a $300 credit line at first.
By doling out smaller credit lines and increasing how much cardholders need to pay back in interest, banks and credit card companies minimize their lending risks.
Your specific credit limit will depend on several unique factors that make up your own financial history, such as your:
- Credit score
- Employment history
- Debt-to-income ratio
- Payment history
Using all this information, applicants with low credit scores due to inexperience may have higher credit limits than those who have bad credit due to missed payments.
You'll always have the opportunity to increase your credit limit down the line by displaying creditworthy behavior (more on this later in section 13!).
What is the Best Buy Rewards Program?
Anyone can become a My Best Buy member by signing up for free in-store or by creating an account online at BestBuy.com.
My Best Buy members earn rewards for every dollar they spend at Best Buy, qualify for free shipping, and have access to special sales and offers.
Everyone starts off as a regular My Best Buy Member. Spend $1,500 in Best Buy purchases during one calendar year and you'll automatically get bumped up to the My Best Buy Elite tier. Make over $3,500 in Best Buy purchases during the year and you'll reach Elite Plus level.
Each membership tier corresponds with different perks.
Here's how you earn points per member category:
- My Best Buy: 0.5 points per $1 spent
- My Best Buy Elite: 1 point per $1 spent
- My Best Buy Elite Plus: 1.25 points per $1 spent
Here's where the fun starts: when you're approved for your Best Buy credit card, you'll also be enrolled in the My Best Buy rewards program.
If you have a My Best Buy Visa credit card, all the purchases you make—whether at Best Buy or at other locations—count towards your point and membership level goals. This makes it lightning fast to accumulate points and climb the membership totem pole.
Keep in mind that if you choose to make a purchase using the promotional financing option, you won't qualify for 5% back in rewards points, but the points will count toward your My Best Buy Elite/Elite Plus status.
How Do You Apply for a Best Buy Credit Card?
It's easy to apply for a Best Buy credit card because the application process is simple, straightforward, and super fast.
You'll usually have an answer about your approval within minutes—and once you're approved, you'll be able to use your My Best Buy credit card immediately for your purchases.
All you have to do is take the first step and fill out an application.
Fill Out an In-Store or Online Application
If you don't already know where the closest Best Buy is to your pad, just hop online to the Best Buy website and look for the Store Locator link at the top right hand corner of the navigation bar.
Fill out a My Best Buy credit card application in-store and receive an answer before you walk out the door.
You can also fill out an application online by heading over to the Credit Cards section of the Best Buy website.
When you choose the digital route, you'll be asked to create a My Best Buy account first.
In addition to entering your name, phone number, and email address to create your account, you'll need to submit personal information for the actual application portion such as your:
- Home address
- Social security number
- Date of birth
- Whether you rent or own your residence
- How much you spend on rent/mortgage
- Your annual income
- Driver's license number / government-issued photo ID number
Once you add that data to your application, you'll need to agree to all the terms and conditions attached to your Best Buy credit card before hitting the Submit Application button.
Then all you have to do is wait to hear back about which Best Buy credit cards you've been approved for. Don't worry; it's practically instantaneous as long as you're qualified.
What's the Eligibility Criteria/Qualification Requirements to Apply for a Best Buy Credit Card?
Before you take the time to apply for a Best Buy credit card, you'll need to pass the first round of requirements.
To be eligible for a Best Buy credit card, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a valid social security number
- Have a driver's license or US-government-issued photo ID
While these requirements may seem pretty standard, you're also required to have:
- At least a 128-bit security encrypted enabled browser and a printer or storage drive to view and keep a copy of the Best Buy terms and conditions, disclosures, and privacy notice.
The application notes that if you don't have access to a printer or storage device, you can request a hard copy of all these facts by writing to Credit Program, P.O. Box 6403 Sioux Falls, SD, 57117-6403.
Generally, you'll need a higher credit score to qualify for the Best Buy Platinum and Preferred Visa credit cards as they'll be looking for "good" to "fair" credit scores in the 650-or-higher range.
Applicants with credit scores lower than this will usually qualify for the Best Buy store credit card or the Best Buy Visa Gold credit card (which has a $59 annual fee).
How Do You Manage Your Account Online?
It's effortless managing your Best Buy credit card account thanks to your handy online dashboard. Just set up your account portal at bestbuy.accountonline.com to begin.
Here you'll be able to:
- Register your credit card
- View your transactions and monthly statements
- Check your credit card balance
- Update your account information
- Request a credit limit increase
- Pay your bill
- Track your points
Consider this online portal your one-stop destination for everything having to do with your Best Buy credit card.
How Long Does it Take to Get Your Best Buy Credit Card?
Once you're approved, your Best Buy credit card will arrive in the mail within 7–14 business days.
How Can I Check the Status of My Credit Card Decision?
Sometimes you'll be asked to provide additional documentation for review before your My Best Buy credit card application is approved.
When you don't receive an immediate answer about your approval, you can always check your application status online here.
All you have to do is enter your birthdate, social security number, and your zip code to retrieve some answers.
What are My Payment Options for the Best Buy Credit Card?
To make it easy for you to pay your bill on time despite your crazy hectic schedule, you have four different options for making your monthly Best Buy credit card payment:
In Store at any Best Buy location where you can pay by cash or check.
Online anytime 24/7 from your Best Buy credit card account dashboard. Online payments can be made by linking your checking, savings, or money market account.
Over the phone by calling 1-888-574-1301 and having your account number and a valid check from a U.S. bank ready on the line. There's no fee when you make a payment through the automated phone system.
By mail by sending your payment—with your account number—to the address printed on your credit card statement
What is the Minimum Payment?
Your minimum payment is the smallest possible amount you'll need to pay before your billing cycle's due date. You can read about how your Best Buy credit card minimum payments are calculated by reading your credit card's terms and conditions.
You'll want to try extra hard to pay off your balance in full each month instead of just making the minimum payment required. The faster you chip away at your balance, the less you'll pay in interest fees (which are skyhigh with this card).
If you fail to make the minimum payment there will certainly be consequences. The real question is how harsh they'll be.
What are the Late Payment Repercussions?
If you don't make a minimum payment by your Best Buy credit card's due date, you'll be hit with a $27 late fee.
Fail to make your minimum payment more than once in a consecutive six-month billing cycle and that late fee jumps to $37. Ouch!
And don't think you can try bouncing a check to get your payment in on time; the same rules apply for returned payments so you'll be facing a $27 or $37 penalty charge. #NotWorthIt
Set payment reminder alarms on your online calendar or smartphone well in advance of your Best Buy credit card's due date and you'll skate past these fees (which can also damage your credit score, PS).
What are the Benefits of Having a Best Buy Credit Card?
What's the point of a rewards card if the prizes aren't worth the trouble of stashing away points?
Aside from giving you a reason to spend more time in your local Best Buy store or procrastinate at work on BestBuy.com, there are three huge benefits to having a Best Buy credit card in your wallet.
So which one's your fave?
Earn Up to 5% Back in Rewards (and sometimes up to 6%!)
Both the My Best Buy Visa credit card and the My Best Buy store credit card earn 5% back in rewards on Best Buy purchases.
Basically, that works out to 2.5 points for every $1 you spend there.
The Best Buy Visa card takes it a step further by offering cardholders:
- 1 point for every $1 you spend on qualifying dining and grocery purchases (which equates to 2% back in rewards)
- 1 point for every $2 you spend on purchases made with your Visa card outside of Best Buy locations (which equates to 1% back in rewards)
Plus, new bonus reward categories will be introduced throughout the year to help you earn additional rewards. #Score
You'll receive a $5 Best Buy Rewards Certificate whenever you bank 250 points.
Since your My Best Buy credit card is tied to your My Best Buy Rewards Program, you'll earn even more points depending on your member level:
- My Best Buy members receive 0.5 points per $1 spent
- My Best Buy Elite members receive 1 point per $1 spent
- My Best Buy Elite Plus members receive 1.25 points per $1 spent
As you can see, Elite Plus members have the chance to earn up to 6% back in rewards.
Keep in mind that you can only choose 5% back in rewards or special financing.
If you choose to enroll in the special financing option during your checkout, you won't be eligible to receive 5% back, but you'll still accumulate points for your My Best Buy Rewards total so Elite and Elite Plus status is still within your reach.
There's No Annual Fee (as long as you have decent credit)
There's no annual fee for the My Best Buy Visa Platinum credit card, the My Best Buy Preferred Visa, or the My Best Buy store credit card. This is what makes these cards slightly better than other rewards cards which charge an annual fee for the price of their perks.
Here's the bad news: if you've only been approved for the My Best Buy Visa Gold credit card, you'll have to pay a $59 annual fee to use it. Only you can decide if that fee is worth the perks you'll receive.
Additional Discounts and Exclusive Offers
Aside from the thrill of stacking up points and zero-interest financing, Best Buy cardholders also earn additional discounts and exclusive offers such as:
10% Signup Bonus
When you're approved for a Best Buy credit card, you're entitled to 10% back in rewards when you make your first purchase. Make this one count!
Free Shipping on BestBuy.com purchases
All My Best Buy credit card holders automatically receive free shipping when they make a purchase online at www.BestBuy.com of at least $35.
My Best Buy Elite members receive free standard shipping without a minimum purchase amount required. And My Best Buy Elite Plus members enjoy free expedited shipping.
If you're constantly making online purchases and paying for delivery, this alone is worth a pretty discount.
Extended Returns and Exchanges
My Best Buy cardholders have 15 days from the date of their transaction to return or exchange their Best Buy and BestBuy.com purchases.
Elite members have 30 days and My Best Buy Elite Plus members have 45 days.
Exclusive Offers and Discounts
As a cardholder and My Best Buy member, you also have access to member-only discounts and personalized deals just for you, which currently include:
- 15% off ink and toner
- 15% off regular-priced K-Cup and K-Carafe packs
- 15% off refrigerator water filters
- 25 My Best Buy Bonus Points when you write a review of your purchase
Dedicated Customer Service Lines
There's nothing more frustrating than waiting on hold with customer service when you're dealing with an issue.
My Best Buy Elite and My Best Buy Elite Plus members each have their own dedicated customer service lines so their hold times are never anger-inducing rage fests.
What are the Drawbacks of Having a Best Buy Credit Card?
Even though we've been gushing about the positives associated with a My Best Buy credit card, there are two big downsides you should know about before you dive headfirst into that application.
Lucky for you, both of them are a piece of cake to avoid so they may not even make you sweat.
Risk of Deferred Interest Rates
If you choose to pass on earning points and opt for the zero-interest financing option instead, you'll need to be extra careful.
Normally, carrying a balance would force you to start paying interest. Promotional financing allows you to carry the balance of that one transaction for the specified amount of time and pay nothing in interest fees.
Here's the catch: Your interest charge doesn't magically disappear. It just sort of waits for you like a shark in dark, shallow water.
If you fail to pay off your purchase before the allotted time period, you will be charged interest all the way back to the date of your purchase on the entire purchase amount.
So if you have 18 months to pay off a $500 purchase and you have a balance of $50 remaining when your promotional window closes, you'll be charged the full 18 months of interest on your original $500 purchase instead of on your $50 balance.
Talk about a kick in the pants.
This is what's known as deferred interest—and it costs many cardholders more than they bargained for in interest charges.
So to counteract this negative, always pay off your balance in full each month and definitely pay off your zero-interest purchases well before the end of your promotional interest period, especially since the interest rates are so extraordinarily high.
The My Best Buy credit cards each have a 25.99% APR, which is higher than most credit cards, rewards cards, and even credit cards issued to applicants with bad credit!
All hope is not lost, however, if you commit to paying off your Best Buy credit card balance in full each month.
Your Best Buy credit card has a 25-day grace period, which is the amount of time you have to pay off your balance before it starts accruing interest. Once you carry your balance to the following month, you'll be charged an interest fee for doing so.
You don't want to get into a situation where you're paying more in interest charges than you're actually earning in $5 rewards.
What are the Customer Reviews Like for the Best Buy Credit Card?
Feelings and reviews about the Best Buy credit cards are incredibly polarized.
On one hand you have cardholders who are dissatisfied with the high interest rate and the deferred interest stipulation like these Best Buy credit card reviewers on Credit Karma:
But cardholders who understand the high interest rate before they make their purchases (and pay off their balance in full every month so they're not penalized by them!) rate the Best Buy credit cards very highly as we can see here:
So it seems like as long as you know what you're signing up for—and avoid paying high fees in accumulated interest charges—you should have a positive experience as well.
So Which One is Better—the Best Buy Store Credit Card or the Best Buy Visa Card?
Neither credit card is better than the other necessarily; they each have benefits for different applicants.
Ideally, the My Best Buy Platinum or Preferred Visa credit card makes the most financial sense from a rewards perspective because you can use it at a wide variety of retailers and earn Best Buy points everywhere you go.
This makes piling up 250 points a lot easier than only being able to earn points off your Best Buy purchases alone.
But if you don't have the credit to get approved for a Best Buy Visa card, the Best Buy store credit card may help you out anyway.
Applicants with low credit scores will be able to demonstrate responsible borrowing by spending and paying off purchases using their Best Buy store card. And since Best Buy reports your activity to the credit bureaus, you'll have the chance to increase your overall credit line and improve your credit score with this practice.
Unless you have really bad credit and you've been denied by other traditional creditors, stay away from the Best Buy Visa Gold card.
This card operates just like the others, but it comes with a $59 annual fee. This means you'd need to either save $60 in discounts or earn $60 in Rewards Certificates to make this fee worth it.

Simply sign into your account and you'll be able to view your credit card balance, check your statements and account activity, and pay your bill right from there.
Can I and how do I withdraw money from Best Buy credit card?
You cannot withdraw money from your Best Buy store credit card. These credit cards do not work for withdrawing funds at ATMs or banks.
If you have the Best Buy Visa credit card, you can withdraw money as a cash advance and have that amount added to your balance.
Be warned though: the interest rate for paying back this cash advance is 28.74%—almost 3% more than your already high APR.
Plus, you'll face a cash advance fee for withdrawing money from your Best Buy Visa credit card. It will either be $10 or 5% of the amount of your cash advance, whichever is greater.
Can I pay for my Best Buy credit card with a debit card?
You can only use a checking or savings account to pay your Best Buy credit card bill. This means you'll need to enter both your account number and the routing number in order for the payment to go through.
Since your debit card number is not the same as your bank account number, you cannot use it to make your monthly payment.
Can I use my Best Buy credit card without the card?
Absolutely! When you're in a Best Buy store and you're sans credit card, just ask the team member at the register to look up your credit card account. You may be asked a few personal details, such as your name, phone number, or social security number.

Can I upgrade my Best Buy credit card?
You cannot "upgrade" from a My Best Buy store credit card to a My Best Buy Visa card, no matter how much you've spent or how awesome your payment history.
To graduate from a Best Buy store card to a Best Buy Visa, you'd need to cancel your Best Buy credit card and re-apply in the hope of being approved for the Visa card version.
However, you don't know if you'll be approved for the Visa and you don't know if your credit limit will be the same as what you currently have. Plus, closing a card has the potential to negatively impact your credit score (as will applying for a new one).
You can upgrade your status level in the My Best Buy program though.
This three-tiered membership hierarchy is organized based on how much you spend during the calendar year. When you make more than $1,500 in purchases you'll be automatically upgraded to Elite member level. Spend over $3,500 in purchases and you'll be upgraded to Elite Plus status.
How soon can I use my Best Buy credit card once I receive it?
If you're approved in-store or online for a Best Buy credit card, you can use your account to make a purchase that very same day!
You should receive your Best Buy credit card within 7–14 business days after your application is approved.

Your Best Buy Visa card can be used anywhere Visa credit cards are accepted around the world. There's no foreign transaction fee to use your Visa credit card, but check your credit card's specific terms to be sure.
Which credit bureaus does Best Buy credit card report to?
Citibank, the issuer of the Best Buy credit cards, admits that they may report information about your Best Buy credit account to all three credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion). This includes late/missed payments and other defaults on your account.
Can I request a higher credit limit on my card?
Yes. If you want a higher credit limit, you can make a request with Citibank online via your Best Buy credit card account dashboard or over the phone with Customer Service (1-888-574-1301).
Do I have to open an account with Citi to get the Best Buy card?
No, you do not need to open an account with Citi to get an approval for a Best Buy credit card.
Is there a time limit to redeem the rewards?
Each Best Buy Reward Certificate has an expiration date listed on the back. They typically expire after 60 days.
There's also a time limit on your My Best Buy rewards points too.
If you let your account go inactive for a consecutive 12 months, your points will automatically turn into $5 reward certificates for every 250 points you've collected.
But if you have an odd number of points banked in your account, like say 295, you'll have to forfeit 45 points because you won't have enough to earn a second Rewards Certificate.
Only Elite Plus members have the chance to save their points from this unfair forfeit rule.
Aside from the interest rate and late fee, are there any hidden fees on this card?
The Best Buy credit cards do not have any hidden fees. All the fees are listed and explained in your credit card's terms.
Why is there an annual fee on my card?
When you apply for a Best Buy credit card, your creditworthiness will be used to determine which Best Buy credit card you're approved for.
If you do not qualify for the My Best Buy Visa Platinum card, you'll be considered for (in order), the My Best Buy store credit cards and the My Best Buy Visa Gold card.
The only Best Buy credit card that comes with an annual fee is the My Best Buy Visa Gold card ($59). No other My Best Buy cards charge an annual fee.
Will I be charged interest even when I am clearing my minimum payments but not availing the promotional deals on my card?
When you're taking advantage of the promotional zero-interest financing option, you'll be able to carry a balance interest-free for as long as the promotional period lasts.
Choose the rewards points instead of the special financing option during your purchase and you will accrue interest anytime you can't pay off your credit card balance in full.
So if you're only making your minimum payment—and not paying off your entire balance each month—you'll be charged interest.
Can the rewards points be used to pay off my credit card bill?
Your reward points can only be used to earn Best Buy Reward Certificates, which are discounts applied to your future Best Buy and BestBuy.com purchases.
Your rewards points cannot be used to pay off your Best Buy credit card bill.
Is it worth getting the Best Buy card if I am not tech savvy?
Since the rewards you earn only go towards future purchases at Best Buy, the Best Buy credit card may not be worth it if you don't frequent the retailer often.
Though you don't have to be a geek or tech junkie to enjoy the perks of this card, you'll probably be able to find a better rewards credit card with:
- A lower APR
- The ability to earn points at more vendors
- The chance to earn rewards in the form of gifts, airline miles, or statement credits
Then again, if you want to keep this card around for an extended credit line and zero-interest financing for big-ticket items, not having an annual fee means it won't cost you anything to do so.
Will I be charged for shipping if I use my Best Buy credit card online?
Best Buy credit card holders will not have to pay for shipping as long as their total purchase from BestBuy.com is over $35.
If you use your Best Buy credit card and you're a My Best Buy Elite member, you'll receive free standard shipping without a minimum purchase amount required. My Best Buy Elite Plus members will enjoy free expedited shipping.
The Bottom Line
The My Best Buy credit cards are a no-brainer for customers who frequently shop at the electronics giant. As long as you pay off your balance in full every month, you'll avoid the wrath of the costly high interest fees and still earn discounts for your future purchases (among other benefits).
Whatever My Best Buy credit card you choose, stay away from the deferred interest option unless you have a gameplan for paying off your purchase before your promotional zero-interest period ends.
If you're a holiday Best Buy shopper at best, going out of your way to rack up points you can only use at Best Buy may not seem like such a great reward. You're better off choosing a more versatile rewards credit card (with a much lower APR!) if you qualify for one.
