Secured and Unsecured Pretty much like loans, you have secured and unsecured bad credit credit cards as well. The secured ones are the safer ones and also more likely to be approved faster. You get much better rates and terms on the secured credit cards. In these cards, you get a credit limit equal to the amount that you deposit in the card. If you deposit $500, you get a credit limit of $500. But you also get interest on your deposits. On the other hand unsecured cards have a limit that is determined by the card company. The company may decide that you have a credit limit of $250 and may charge you $125 in interest rates. So you need to get the terms and conditions extremely clear before you agree to purchase the card. If you search around a bit, you can get some pretty good legitimate deals in bad credit credit cards as well. Competition has forced card companies to offer better rates to customers.
