Solve Your Problem Credit with Patience

People faced with any problems with credit or paying monthly bills are usually tempted to turn to businesses that advertise quick and easy solutions to their problem credit. But do not be misled. Financially, the only thing good credit is needed is for more credit.

And there are a lot of companies that promise to solve your problems with credit. But, there are no instant or easy solutions, even though some credit counseling businesses "guarantee results or your money back." You will soon find out that there are usually hidden strings attached to such offers or that the company has disappeared when you ask for your money back.

Some people when faced with problems with credit are able to handle it quite easily on their own and solve it. For some other people, the problem of overspending is a psychological one, as addictive as alcohol, drugs or gambling. Then there are those who are over their head in debt because of certain unavoidable circumstances, like medical bills, divorce or loss of a job.

But, there are always ways to solve your problem credit. However, solving them takes time, patience, and a basic understanding of the rules and regulations regarding credit repair. The first step is to find out why you've been rejected for credit. Is it because you have insufficient credit history?

It is important then to build a good credit history. If you have no reported credit history, it may take time to establish your first credit account. This problem with credit affects young people who are just beginning a career, as well as older people who have never needed credit before. Divorced or widowed people who had previously shared credit accounts with their spouses can also face this problem with credit. But, with careful planning and a little knowledge of how lenders issue credit, you can establish a credit history fairly painlessly and solve all your problems with credit.

There may be problems with credit other than lack of credit history. But you need to know what is in your credit file before you can find out the reason why you've been denied credit. So, if you don't know, check with your local credit bureaus for a copy of your credit report. For a small fee, they will tell you what information is in your file and may give you a copy of your credit report.

One reason for rejection could be if your income didn't meet the creditor's minimum requirement or you may not have worked at your current job long enough. Such problems with credit can be resolved with time. Either you could wait for a salary increase and then reapply, or simply apply to a different creditor. If you decide to reapply, it is best to wait at least 6 months before making each new application. This is because credit bureaus record each inquiry about you. And, some creditors may deny your applications if they think you are trying to open too many new accounts too quickly.

But, if you still can't get credit due to problems with credit, you are allowed to ask a person with an established credit history to act as your co-signer. A co-signer promises to repay the credit, if you don't. This can substantially improve your chances of getting credit. Once you've successfully repaid the debt, you can try to get credit on your own.

Nothing destroys your credit report more than outstanding payments. So, if you're having trouble paying your bills, you need to do something fast before you end up with damaged credit. Often, people with problems credit are tempted to turn to a company that claims to offer assistance in solving problems with credit. Such businesses offer debt consolidation loans, debt counseling, or debt reorganization plans, "guaranteed" to stop creditors' collection efforts.

But, before signing up with such businesses that claim to solve all your problems with credit, investigate thoroughly. Also, be clear on the services the business provides and what it will cost you. Don't rely on oral promises that don't appear in your contract. It's safest in such cases to check with the Better Business Bureau or your local consumer protection office. They might be able to tell you whether other consumers have registered any complains about the business.

If you fail to check, you could end up with additional problems with credit. For example, debt consolidation or other large short-term loans have high hidden costs and usually require your home as collateral. An unscrupulous company can misrepresent the terms of such loan agreements and you could end up losing your home.

So remember, though problem credit can be distressing, be careful when selecting a solution, because, some solutions may only add to your problems.
