But today there are numerous options available beyond traditional bankcards that provide people with bad credit all the benefits and advantages of credit cards given to those with excellent credit. If repairing bad credit with credit cards, obtaining an unsecured credit card is highly recommended. While those with bad credit will have fewer offers for unsecured credit cards, they do exist and we've listed several for your convenience. To obtain a secured credit card, you'll need to establish a savings account with the bank or lender that issued the credit card. Typically, your credit limit will be equal to or even a little above that of your savings account. Deposits typically range from $50.00 to $500.00 and some secured cards will allow you to deposit as much as $5,000. It is a very, very rare occasion when banks reject people for secured credit cards because their issuance is quite secure with your deposit. Aside from the credit card and the opportunity for repairing bad credit, your security deposit account will also earn a small amount of interest. If repairing bad credit with a secured credit card, make certain your payment history will post to the credit bureaus. In addition, investigate whether the bank will increase your credit line or even return your deposit after a few years of solid, on time payments. In Closing
