Reasons to Review your Instant Credit Report Regularly

Do you know how important it is to review your instant credit report regularly? Anyone who has reasons to be concerned about their credit status needs to review his or her credit report at the earliest possible date. If you're worried about your credit status, the way out from the tension is to see a copy of your instant credit report and find out how bad the situation is.

An instant credit report is very important for consumers because it gives an up-to-date look at credit status, or your creditworthiness based on your credit score. If your credit score is high, you can apply for any kind of loan. Another benefit of a good credit score is that you can get a very low interest rate on most loans.

But if your credit score is low, things would be just the opposite. You will not only face difficulties in accessing your loan, but also need to pay a higher interest rate on the loan. That is why it's always a very good idea to keep track of your instant credit report.

You can get a copy of your instant credit report from any of the three major credit bureaus in the country. Each of the three nationwide credit-reporting agencies, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, will provide you with one, at your request. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) has made it mandatory for the credit-reporting agencies to provide a copy of instant credit report to all the consumers, once in a year. But before they can send you the instant credit report, you need to complete a certain application procedure.

For this purpose, the Fair Credit Reporting Act s asked the three national credit-reporting agencies, to set up a centralized source and provide the report to the customers only though it. This centralized source includes a website, www.annualcreditreport.com, a toll free phone number, 877-322-8228 and a mailing address, Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA, 30348-5281. You can get your instant credit report through the Internet, or by post, whichever is convenient for you.

Even though the three major credit-reporting agencies of America have their own websites, the Fair Credit Reporting Act has made it mandatory that they provide the instant credit report, only through the central location. So they can't send you the report though their individual websites, telephone numbers, or addresses. Therefore you need to place the request through either one of these three locations.

But if you request more than once a year, for an instant credit report, you'll have to pay for the second report. However, if you apply for an instant credit report, you can get some other benefits as well. If you apply for an instant credit report, through the centralized source, the credit-reporting agencies will also provide you with educational materials.

These educational materials explain the contents of the instant credit report, how to handle inaccuracies, and how you can protect yourself from identity theft. Moreover, you can get tremendous help from Annual Credit Report Request Service that works hand in hand with these credit reporting agencies.

But if you detect any kind of error in your instant credit report, you'll have to inform the credit-reporting agencies, as early a possible. A certified credit report review specialist will then go over the information in your credit report and would contact the creditors on behalf of the credit-reporting agencies, to try and investigate the matter. But for that, you need to provide your personal information, like name, address (present and past), social security numbers etc.

Though you need to apply for an instant credit report through the centralized source, you also have the right to request for one, directly from the credit bureaus. But this is possible only under certain circumstances. If you've been denied credit, housing, employment, or insurance, based on the information in your credit report, you are entitled to a free credit report. Also if you can certify that you're unemployed or receiving public benefits, you are eligible for a free instant credit report. If your report is inaccurate due to fraud, in that case, you're allowed a free credit report.

So, an instant credit report is an important statement that every consumer should check regularly.
