Free credit report has become the most
discussed topic in the 13 American states where consumers can view their credit reports for free with effect from December 1, 2004. These 13 states are Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. According to the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) all the consumers of the country would be able to view their credit report for free by the end of this year. Indeed, it's a great move. The access to a free credit report would ensure that the consumers would be better able to take care of their credit and resolve their credit problems to quite an extent. If you want to see your free credit report, you can choose one of the three options: you can apply online by browsing on www.annualcreditreport.com or by calling on 877-322-8228 or by completing the form on the back of the Annual Credit Report Request brochure, and mail it to Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA, 30348-5281. When you take any of these steps, the three national credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion) provide access your free credit report. When you see your free credit report, you can understand where you stand as far as your credit rating is concerned. A good credit rating definitely has great implications for you as you can borrow money from any bank or credit union. In addition to that, you would get very low interest rates on the borrowed sum. But if your credit score were not up to the mark because of various reasons, you would not be able to get a good deal on your loan. Among these reasons, mention may be made especially of your late payments, outstanding debts, excessive use of credit cards, and so on. These days, most people are going for online credit report. To avail an online credit report, you need an Internet connection and a good bit of search with the help of a web browser. Windows and Mac are two popular web browsers. Consumers across the country normally use windows to log onto the websites of the credit bureaus and get a glimpse of their free credit report. But in the recent months, a lot of customers have complained about the heavy congestion problem that they face while using the windows browser. Most of the time they have been logged out automatically or the server doesn't work properly. For example, Roy Matthews, a resident of Montana who took advantage of a free credit check (in Montana, free credit reports have been available since Dec. 1, 2004) had a terrible experience using the windows browser to view his free credit report. Therefore, he turned to Safari, the Mac OS X default web browser, to run his procedures. Generally, Safari offers you a superior web experience with outstanding performance. In fact, Safari loads pages more quickly than any other Mac web browser. But that's not all. Safari uses the advanced interface technologies underlying Mac OS X to offer you an all-new view of the web, one that's much easier to use. But what went wrong with Matthews? He complained about Safari and said, I made repeated attempts to log onto one of the websites of the three credit bureaus, but only got invalid responses. He added "I actually felt like a Windows user being assaulted by Internet Explorer, although I was using Safari in Mac OS X." Therefore, he turned to Firefox, which is famous for its speed and efficiency. It is definitely a better way to view your free credit report. The plus point with the Firefox web browser is that it gives access to the three credit bureaus really at the speed of a bullet. Matthews said, "Now I am able to see my free credit report the way I like. Honestly speaking, Firefox has a better access capacity than Safari or windows." |
