Did I Really Need Debt Consolidation Program Or A New Budget?

Debt consolidation programs are fast becoming popular. As more and more people are falling into the clutches of bad credit, debt consolidation programs are assuming much importance. A great number of people are going for debt consolidation programs in order to eliminate their debts.

For example, Ian Soderberg, a University of Kentucky student, had multiple debts until he learned about debt consolidation programs. When he first heard of debt consolidation programs, he had three credit cards and some college debts to pay back. His estimated total debt at that time was over $4000. That really put the brakes on his career. He was burning the candle at both ends to repay his loan and get back to the university as soon as possible to complete his degree.

Fortunately, he learned about debt consolidation programs, which he thought would help him out. In fact, he saw an advertisement of the program in the classified section of a magazine. He called up the representative of the organization on a toll free number and went ahead with the program.

When Soderberg read the advertisement in the magazine, it was nowhere mentioned that he would have to pay a fee for his application. But when he approached the debt consolidation program company, he was asked to pay a fee of $85. The company promised him to refund the application fee if they didn't work for him as planned. Soderberg realized that all good things in life don't come for free!

During the first week of his dealings, he had to discuss a lot with his creditors. The creditors continued to call him frequently and talk to him about his debt consolidation program. As some weeks went by, Soderberg seemed very happy, as he had to pay only about $50 per month. Moreover, he was not harassed for being late on his payments. From Soderberg's point of view, the best thing about the debt consolidation program was that it got creditors off his back.

With the assistance of the debt consolidation program, Soderberg was relieved from the load of multiple debts to a great extent. He not only resumed his academic career at the University of Kentucky but also felt good deal of financial relief. Soderberg was lucky to get a get good deal on his program. But there are a lot of people who fall prey to bad debt consolidation programs.

As a result, you may spend the extra money on other unnecessary items. And finally, it may create difficulty in your repaying the loan on time. Besides, you may find some debt consolidation program companies that promise you a free and quick service. But they may do an about turn and not really live up to the promises. Neither do you find any kind of free assistance, nor do you get any really quick service.
