All The Credit Repair Information You Need Is All In One Place

When one of my friends needs tips on how to repair bad credit they all seem to come to me for advice, which is understandable since I used to have horrible credit until I did a simple credit repair on my own. There is one thing about credit repair that I know for sure and that is how to repair your credit for free.

If you want to know how to repair your credit for free it is as simple as writing a few letters and having patience. Credit repair is simple and anyone that can type a letter can do it.

The reason my credit was bad in the first place had to do with a past relationship that ended poorly. After we broke up she started to take out credit cards in my name and used them to fly around the world, but I never knew about it until several months later when I tried to get a student loan to go back to school.

It took me several months to fix it and in the process I learned just how important it is to keep up with your credit report at least once a year. The sooner you indentify misinformation on your credit report, the sooner you can get it fixed.

The first step everyone looking to do a credit repair needs to do is to get a copy of their credit report. Getting a copy of your report is easy; all you need to do is send a letter requesting one from the credit reporting agencies. To get the address for the credit reporting agencies just go online to the Federal Trade Commission’s website; all of the addresses you will need are there.

Once you get a copy of your credit report you can start disputing all of the inaccurate information. The FTC website also has a sample letter that can help people do their own credit repair.

Keep in mind that everything that you dispute on your credit report requires a separate letter, so if you have a lot of things to dispute it might be a good idea to get some help or to set up a system of organization. Anyone attempting to do a credit repair on their own should never forget that one misstep in the process can cause them to have to go back to the beginning and resend a dispute letter.

For more information on credit repair all you have to do is read the FTC website, they let you know everything that you need to do. If you feel that it might be too much work for you to handle, just take the time to call a good credit repair company and ask for help.
