I have spent the last two years of my life with really bad credit. I was not sure what I could do to or how I could go about a credit repair. I know that some of the things on my credit report will come off if I just wait it out, but some of the things on my report are not a result of anything I did.
Several years ago I found out that someone had been using my social security number to get loans and credit cards fraudulently. I believed that I could not do anything about it, so I just let things get worse.
Letting the matter fester only made my credit score deteriorate further. Being complacent about my need to do a credit repair caused all of the loans that were actually mine to become more expensive. As my credit rating started to go down from all of the misinformation on my report, all of the credit cards that were mine started to raise their interest rates. With my bills going up I got upset and started to neglect all of the obligations that were mine.
I was so mad about how bad my credit score was that I just let my credit score go and defaulted on all of my own loans. I was depressed and I did not know what to do, until I talked to a friend that said that I could do a credit repair simply, if I only followed a few steps.
Here are all of the steps he told me about how to repair credit. The first thing I needed to do was to order my credit report. By law everyone is entitled to one free copy of their credit report from each of the three major agencies each year. All I needed to do was to contact the credit reporting companies and request a copy. He told me that there were places on the Internet that had a sample copy of the letter I needed to request a copy.
Once I get my copies of my credit report I can then dispute all of the entries that I think are not mine. He also told me that doing my own credit repair would not be a quick fix and that I needed to realize that it might take months to complete.
With a little searching on the Internet I found a sample copy of a dispute letter that I am going to use to do my credit repair. Hopefully in a few months I will be able to get that new car I have been wanting. If you are having the same problem all I can say is that the longer you wait to do a credit repair, the longer it will take for you to see results.
