I have been trying to get credit cards for the last three months, but I keep getting turned down. I do not have bad credit; I just do not have good credit. My credit rating is just above the threshold to qualify as average credit.
I really need to get some type of credit that will allow me to do all of the things that credit cards let people do. I travel a lot, so as most people know you have to have some type of credit card to rent a car or buy some food on an airplane. Without credit cards it can be hard to even rent a hotel room.
With most airlines making a change that will not allow people to buy drinks or food on a flight with anything but credit cards; I have been running out of luck trying to find an alternative to having one. Unfortunately, life without credit cards is becoming harder and harder each year.
So what I think I might have to do is get one of those cards that require me to make a secured deposit. Some banks have been offering secured credit cards for people that do not qualify for regular credit cards.
To get the secured credit cards all I have to do is deposit some money into the bank that is issuing me the card and they use that money to ensure that I will not default on the payments. Sound pretty easy, but what most people do not realize is that they are charging as much as 30% interest on purchases in some cases and only give customers a few percentage points for their deposit.
Without credit cards what am I supposed to do? My only options seem to be to get a secured card or one of those prepaid cards. With prepaid credit cards they say that some of them can be a scam.
I think that I am going to go with one of the secured cards so I can at least build my credit up enough to get one of those unsecured credit cards later. At least I will have the available option of charging a purchase when I can’t use cash. If you are having the same problem as me you should look into getting secured credit cards, if only for a short period of time.
