Advanced Earned Income Credit Help

Advanced Earned Income credit help is an IRS program devised with your employer. Eligibility for earned income credit help entitles one to advance payments on paycheck instead of waiting for tax return. The advance EIC is added to your net to pay for each pay period when eligible. To apply for advance EIC, file Form W-5 with your employer. Only one Form W-5 can be in effect with a current employer at a time. When both spouses are employed, each can file a separate Form W-5.

Qualifying for advance earned income credit requires one to be a working parent or grandparent of at least one qualifying child, apart from:
 Earned income in 2004 and adjusted gross income need to be less than $30,338 and $31,338 if married and filing joint return.
 You need to qualify for EIC on your 2004 tax return.

Some employees earning minimum wage can increase take-home pay by more than $100 every month. Tax refund will be accordingly reduced when filing yearly return. The Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC) is a refundable federal tax credit help for eligible individuals and families with earned income. Earned income is defined as working for someone who pays or a business one owns. Taxable earned income includes wages, salaries, tips, union strike benefits, long-term disability benefits before minimum retirement age and net earnings from self-employment. Taking Earned Income credit help can reduce the tax amount due.

The amount on this credit help is determined by whether there are no qualifying children, one qualifying child or more than one living with you. A refundable credit help can be up to $2,604 for one qualifying child, $4,300 for more than one and $390 for none.

In choosing credit help, the investor requires you to meet certain criteria to take advantage of Advanced Earned Income credit help. Earned income is necessary and if married and filing a joint return will suffice as long as at least one spouse has earned income.
Earned income and adjusted gross income should be less than the following:

 $11,490 ($12,490 if married filing jointly) with no qualifying children
 $30,338 ($31,338 if married filing jointly) with one qualifying child
 You( and spouse if married filing jointly) need to have a Social Security number allowing you to work (without any mention of not valid for employment)
 Your return should include a valid Social Security number for every qualifying child claimed on Schedule EIC, Earned Income Credit help.
 Filing status should not be Married Filing Separately
 US citizenship or resident alien status all year
 The qualifying child must not be under another person's claim as dependent on another return.
 Qualifying children, if any for credit help need to conform to the relationship, age and residency criteria. More than one person claiming the Earned Income Credit help cannot come under qualifying child status.
 Your stay in the US needs to exceed half of 2004. Military personnel on extended active duty outside the US are considered to be in the country for the entire duration of duty.
 Form 2555, Foreign Earned Income or Form 2555-EZ, Foreign Earned Income Exclusion must not have been filed by you.
 In case of investment income exceeding $2,650, with interest, dividends, net income from rent, net capital gain, and net passive income distinct from self-employment income, you will usually not qualify for the Earned Income Credit help.
 Despite not being required to file a return due to inadequate earning during the year you could still qualify for the Earned Income Credit help. But you need to file a return and meet all requirements for the credit help.

Take the example of a couple with two children aged 4 and 7. All are US citizens, living in the same home throughout the year. Nobody else lives with them and neither spouse can be claimed as dependent on somebody else's return. One of them is self-employed with a net profit from business of $31,000. The spouse is unemployed, availing of unemployment benefits of $2,400. $17 in interest from a savings account is gained with neither partner having no other income or expenses. They can claim $891 as Earned Income Credit help on joint return due to meeting all the conditions. One spouse has earned income, no separate return is filed, earned income and adjusted gross income add up to less than the $35,458 threshold for couples with more than one qualifying child and investment income is less than $2,650.

Once you qualify for EIC, file Form W-5 Earned Income Credit Advance Payment Certificate with your employer, for the basic credit help in each paycheck.

Changing circumstances at any time of the year that affect eligibility for EIC will require repayment of the advance when filing return. To stop advance payments, a new Form W-5 needs to be given to your employer. Receiving Earned Income Credit help requires return to be filed even if not required otherwise.
